This week, we took a look at everyone's initial bubble diagram designs. Judy was also present to give us some maintenance work to do before spring.

Firstly we freshened up the greenhouse by shoveling gravel to cover the bare soil. As we have fourteen interns, the job was completed quickly and safely. Then we gave interns either pruners or hori-horis (which were brand new, purchased with our grant money) which they either dead-headed or transplanted yarrow with, respectively.

Meanwhile, we were able to pull away the individual groups so we could review their bubble diagram designs. They all went thoughtfully through the design process and chose plants accordingly to their needs.

The parking lot group made sure to leave desire paths, and kept visibility in mind. The meadow group found species that could withstand trampling, while the bioswale group utilized species that can survive in the wet conditions. Finally, the sign group was able to pay homage to the name of the school by including Marguerite daisies in the design.

The next step would be to edit their designs and draft it to scale.
